my journey to the mic...

Brigitte Lessard-Deyell of WomenTALK Canada interviewed me today on FB live

Everything in life is a lesson and an opportunity to grow.  My journey to the mic hasn't been an easy one.  Working through FEAR has taken a lot of work.  The acronym for FEAR is this; false evidence appearing real.
All the negative self-talk seemed real to me. Managing my fear, meant I first had to identify what was I afraid of? My six fears are:

1. not feeling enough
2. not feeling worthy
3. wanting to be liked and loved by everyone
4. feeling judged, and judging myself
5. giving my power away
6. hiding myself because of my size

I had been booked to speak early in 2017 at a couple of WomenTalk events, however I cancelled.  I felt extreme fear and was sitting in comparison energy.  I have learned that comparison is a thief of joy.   It keeps us stuck in old energy and it comes from lack.  Comparison means that I wasn't counting my own gifts as important.  It was an energy that I could never measure up.  My self talk was saying " who is going to want to listen to me?  who would want to come and see ME? etc.  I was berating myself and keeping myself small.  

The night I was to talk in Calgary had been an opportunity to help someone walk through cancer!  The one talker spoke of her diagnosis and then had her head shaved in front of all of us.  Her sister and I believe her daughter also shaved their heads.  It was a powerful night and I made the decision to sit as a spectator instead of sharing my story that would have made a difference.  

You see my story that I will be sharing, is one of healing.  My speech is entitled, " claim your power to heal, how a cancer diagnosis changed my life for the better!"   It would have been perfect!! However I can't go back.  I can only look forward and keep the words Brigitte guided me with!  "If you are scared, do it anyway!!"  So I will work through the fear and keep my date of speaking.  I will be making my speaking debut in Kimberly BC on Aug 28, 2018.  Then on Sept 18 I will be speaking in Okotoks Ab.  I look forward to sharing my story.

There is a beautiful Marianne Williamson quote I would love to share.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.  It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. "
I do believe this to be true. I believe we are afraid to shine too bright. 
However my greatest teachers have taught me to never turn down my light.  To allow it to shine bright and do so with an open heart.
So there are no more excuses and no more comparison to others except to inspire me to be better.  I am stepping out of the fear!! I will reach my greatest potential and I will remember that the sky is the limit!!!
